Business Meeting Minutes
Oct 1, 2010

I. Call to order
President Aloke G called to order the regular meeting of the Oregon State Toastmasters at noon on Oct 1, 2010, in Room 119 of the Crop Science Building.

II. Attendance
Secretary Ted Z took attendance. 9 members out of 15 active members were present, making a quorum.

III. Approval of minutes from last meeting  There were no minutes from the last meeting.

IV. Committee reports
There were no committee reports.
V.
Old business

Treasurer Kris moved to vote in ACCEPT new members Alicia B, Kathleen V and Temesgen H.

• Motion was seconded by ---.   
• The motion passed and the new members were welcomed.

Kris handed out a club budget for the current 12 month cycle (July to June 2011).  She moved  that

• our club approve the budget as present, 
• and authorize the expenditures listed.

VI. Member announcements
 Note: announcements are optional.  These are not really business; no action gets taken.

• Kris described what "President's distinguished area" signifies.  Our very own Area 32 achieved this status in the club year which ended June 2010, and Ted Z was thanked for his efforts as former Area Governor.
• Kris also described the Area 32 speech contest, held on September 30, 2010. Taking 1st place in the Humorous speech contest was David Taylor of club 3722; 2nd place went to Debra Howard of the Avery club.
• Taking first place in the Table Topics contest was Jenny Malm of the Avery club; 2nd place went to David Taylor; and 3rd place went to Tim Pusack of club 3722.  The top two finishers will advance to the Central Division contest on Oct 23.
